The Keva Board of Directors has decided by 6 votes to 3 to propose Timo Kietäväinen to the Keva Council as Keva’s new managing director.
Mr Kietäväinen, MSocSc, is the Deputy Managing Director of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities (AFLRA) responsible for issues including local government finances, labour market issues and pension policies. Timo Kietäväinen has been employed by the AFLRA and its predecessor organisation since 1992. He serves in several positions of trust, such as member of the Advisory Committee on Local Government Finances and Administration and Vice Chairman of the Foundation of the Finnish Orthodox Cultural Centre. His roles have also included Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Ekokem’s Board of Directors and Deputy Chairman of the Finnish Consulting Group Board.
The managing director is responsible for Keva’s operations and finances. The recruitment criteria for the new managing director included knowledge of the earnings-related pension system, the municipal and other public sector as well as investment activities. The successful candidate is also expected to display strategic leadership and the capacity to direct Keva as an entity and have an extensive network of relations.

The Board submitted its proposal on Thursday 28 January, and the managing director will be appointed by the Keva Council on 16 February. A total of 20 applications were received for the position.
