Keva has acquired the shopping centre Kauppakeskus Kaari’s property in Kannelmäki, Helsinki. The acquisition price of the property was EUR 207 million.

Keva, pension provider responsible for local government pensions, acquired the property from the Swedish real estate investment company Niam.

- This investment is well aligned with Keva’s long-horizon real estate investment strategy. For pension investors like Keva, it provides a good return and matches therefore the long-term goals of Keva’s pension fund, explains Calle Roselius, Head of Real Estate Investments at Keva.

- The shopping centre Kauppakeskus Kaari is among the best ones in Greater Helsinki, and its location is central: Within a 20-minute radius by car live approximately 1.1 million people. A diversified customer base ensures that the centre stays vibrant throughout various times, says Real Estate Investment Manager Sami Kesonen.

The shopping centre also houses the best-selling Prisma grocery shop in Finland, which is also the largest grocery shop in sales in Finland.

Kauppakeskus Kaari was built in 2009 and extended in 2013. The lettable surface area totals 48,855 m2.

Keva is one of Finland’s largest providers of business premises. In direct real estate investments, Keva has a total of around 130 residential and business properties, mainly in Greater Helsinki and growth centres in Finland. At the end of 2021, the net lettable surface area of these properties was around 970,000 m², and its market value totalled around EUR 2.9 million.
