If you are on an extended sick leave, you are entitled to a daily allowance under the Sickness Allowance Act, paid by the Social Insurance Institution (Kela). During the daily allowance period Kela will inform you about rehabilitation possibilities, income security for the rehabilitation period and possibly applying for a disability pension. You should apply for disability pension if your attending physician estimates that your incapacity to work will continue for at least one year.
