Senior home Oy Vantaan Kielotie 50 was completed in the summer of 2004. Its planning takes account of potential physical restrictions caused by aging. The house offers everything required for pleasant living, including modern facilities. The flats are primarily meant for people who manage on their own and are at least 55 years old. The tenants have also established a tenants’ committee.
The area
Kielotie 50 is located in Tikkurila, the administrative centre of the City of Vantaa. All the services of Tikkurila are situated nearby, within a walking distance of one kilometre. Traffic connections are good. There is a small shop and a bus stop right next door. Travelling by train from Tikkurila station to the heart of Helsinki takes about twenty minutes.
The centre of Tikkurila offers diverse services, including shops, market square, banking, health services, library, cinema, sports park and an indoor pool. Additionally, two kilometres away, along the River Kerava, is Heureka, the Finnish Science Centre, and the old mill Veininmylly, which offers café services and dancing in the summer.
Flats and shared areas
The building has six floors and a lift. There are 38 flats in the building with one to three rooms. The flats’ floor areas vary between 41 m2 and 66 m2. All the flats have a glazed balcony, and the six largest flats have a sauna.
Shared facilities include a club room, laundry room and a laundry drying room, as well as a rental sauna facility with a balcony on the top floor offering an unobstructed view of the surroundings. In the yard there is a shelter and a porch swing for two. There are 16 parking spaces in the yard with the option for engine heating.
Services
All the necessary services are close at hand. The closest daily activities for the elderly, offered by the City of Vantaa, are located across the street in the Suopursu activity centre at Kielotie 25.
